Rapidus Recognized on EE Times’ “Silicon 100” for Second Consecutive Year

TOYKO, July 19, 2024Rapidus Corporation, a manufacturer of advanced logic semiconductors, today announced it is among the companies featured on EE Times’ “Silicon 100” list of the startups worth watching in 2024, a recognition that Rapidus also received in 2023. The prestigious EE Times “Silicon 100” highlights the high-potential, high-impact technologies that will shape the future of the electronics and semiconductor industry. This year’s edition showcases innovators in 24 areas, ranging from materials and packaging at a fundamental extreme to quantum computing and security at the highest level of abstraction.

Rapidus was recognized for its advances as a foundry – specifically for chiplets and packaging – and was the only company from Japan featured on the 2024 list.

2024 has been a monumental year for Rapidus. Milestones include customer momentum with Tenstorrent and Esperanto Technologies; budget and plan approval for its 2nm semiconductor research; a new chiplet packaging project from the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO); the unveiling of its U.S. subsidiary company in Silicon Valley, Rapidus Design Solutions, with Henri Richard named as GM and president; a collaboration with IBM around 2nm chiplet packaging; and an agreement with Hokkaido University to further Japan’s scientific and technological capabilities and develop human resources for the semiconductor industry.

“As Rapidus is about to celebrate its second anniversary, our place on EE Times ‘Silicon 100’ list validates our contributions to the semiconductor industry over the past two years. We are seeing immense need for an independent foundry that can help alleviate many of the challenges that the industry has been plagued with for many years – from geopolitical issues to capacity constraints,” said Dr. Atsuyoshi Koike, CEO, Rapidus. “We’re proud to represent Japan’s resurgence in this important next phase of the semiconductor revolution. Thank you to the entire EE Times team for recognizing all of Rapidus’ achievements in a short period of time.”
